This is an expression of interest proposal for a public art piece for Wonthaggi via the Bass Coast Council. The concept is to create forms that are in various stages of emerging or growing out of the ground. The forms have resonance with a number of key visual features that are part of Wonthaggi: dinosaur bones, whale bones and the blades of wind turbines. Given that Wonthaggi sits on top of coal deposits that where previously mined, the emergence of renewable energy sources such as the Wonthaggi Wind Farm signal a key transition in both the economy and lifestyle of the township and surrounding regions.  The sculpture symbolises this transition while visually connecting natural features across a broad span of time.
